The Toronto Maple Leafs hope Game 5 was the tip of their comeback iceberg as they host the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Arena Thursday for Game 6, and here are our expert Bruins-Maple Leafs player props based on the best NHL odds

According to our best sports betting sites, the Toronto Maple Leafs (46-26-10) enter Game 6 against the Boston Bruins (47-20-15) as the betting favorites. A victory would not only force Game 7, but it would be their first in seven home playoff contests.

However, the Leafs will need to persevere without Auston Matthews, whom head coach Sheldon Keefe ruled out on Thursday afternoon, according to Sportsnet.

The Bruins are looking to win a third straight game at Scotiabank Arena. Unsurprisingly, the Bruins are still ahead in our Stanley Cup odds pecking order. The puck drops at 8 p.m. ET.

Accompanying our Bruins-Maple Leafs Game 6 prediction, here's our best Bruins vs. Maple Leafs player props and NHL picks for Thursday (odds via our best NHL betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Bruins vs. Maple Leafs prop bet predictions for Thursday

Tyler Bertuzzi Over 2.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like an agitated wasp, Tyler Bertuzzi is relentlessly tenacious, with a drive few players can match. Sure, the Maple Leafs forward isn't exactly the most talented and gifted player on the ice, but what he lacks in finesse Bertuzzi more than makes up for in grit and sheer will.

One of the Maple Leafs' best players in the series, Bertuzzi has registered at least three shots in four of five games, with the opener the only exception.

He's also snapped at least three shots on goal in six of his previous seven against the Bruins. Adrenaline alone may transform him into Mighty Mouse, which should lead to an evening with at least three shots. A $10 winning bet at Betway yields a profit of $7.46. The -134 odds imply a probability of 57.26%.

Jake DeBrusk Over 0.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like Catching Freedom, Jake DeBrusk is a horse I'd back till the cows come home. He was held off the scoresheet in Games 4 and 5 and will be raring to make amends and pop out of the starting gates like a bullet train in Japan. DeBrusk has logged five points in as many games this series, including at least one in the first three contests.

His success against the Maple Leafs dates back to the regular season, when DeBrusk notched at least a point in all four matchups. Betway offers odds of +105, which would pay a profit of $10.50. The +105 odds imply a winning probability of 48.78%.

Best odds: +105 via Betway

Brad Marchand Over 0.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If losing Game 5 wasn't enough to turn Brad Marchand's disposition from moderately irked to seething, an official knocking him flat on his back certainly did the trick.

Marchand has been in these situations countless times and knows how to transform agitation into motivation and desire. He's logged five assists in five games thus far, securing at least one in four. His ignominious Game 5 was the only exception.

Expect Marchand to be at his most annoying and effective on Thursday, which should be enough to generate at least one helper. Betway's -110 odds provide a profit of $9.09 on a winning $10 bet. The odds imply a winning probability of 52.38%.

Best odds: -110 via Betway
